Food Notes: Happy Culture Kombucha

What is Kombucha?

Kombucha is a variety of fermented, lightly effervescent sweetened black or green tea drinks commonly intended as functional beverages for their supposed health benefits. *Thanks Wikipedia

Why do I drink Kombucha?

Because I’m sobercurious and need a replacement for beer! All jokes aside though, sometimes I just crave ice cold bubbles and Kombucha is the healthier option for me. Plus I love the claim that it contains the one thing this girl needs more off in her diet, PROBIOTICS. Probiotics are vital for a healthy gut, improving digestion and fighting inflammation. The basis for most Kombucha is Green Tea, which has many benefits itself, mainly being a powerful anti-oxidant.

Why Happy Culture Kombucha?

I feel in love with this brand during my 3 month Yoga journey at MyUtopia. Post Bikram, this was the ultimate cool down. Their kombucha’s basis is Green Tea with a hint of other flavours:

  • Cucumber and Mint (my favourite!)
  • Ginger and Lemon
  • Rooibos Chai
  • Blueberry and Basil

I found the above flavours to be refreshing, tasty and easy to drink (we’ve all had our experiences of drink some god-awful tasting brews/elixirs/shots, you won’t find this with ANY of these flavours).

They’re also made locally, in my hometown, and I love supporting local small business. The Happy Culture Brew Crew have a Champagne background which is evident in the lightness of their bubbly booch.

PS this is not a sponsored post. Just love showing love to local brands.
